Udonis Haslem re-signs with Heat for 16th season, report says

  • Veteran power forward Udonis Haslem is returning to your Heat for his 16th NBA season, all spent with Miami.
Haslem plus the Heat have consented to terms on a one-year, $2.4 million NBA Live Mobile Coins deal, the Sun Sentinel reported Thursday.
The veteran became a complimentary agent July 1 and ended up mulling playing elsewhere inside NBA or overseas, but ultimately thought we would return to the group where he appeared on seventy one of Miami's NBA championship-winning teams.
"Every time I talk on the guys, they desire me to go back," Haslem said. "I need to be around the blokes. I enjoy giving life towards the guys. I enjoy working out using the guys. I enjoy seeing the things we do away from the court manifest to individuals guys about the court and getting success."
The move doesn't come all the surprise since Heat president Pat Riley said a few weeks ago re-signing Haslem and Dwyane Wade became a priority for Miami in the offseason. One question remaining, though, is Wade's looming decision on whether he'll retire in the NBA or return for just a 16th season.
Haslem, 38, has averaged 7.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game throughout his career. He is the third-oldest active player inside the NBA, behind Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter.
