Old School RuneScape pulled offline for making members billiona

  • Shortly after all of our story was published, builder Jagex announced that Old Classes RuneScape was back on the net for most players. The solution is the first, and so far solely, complete roll-back of the activity world in its history.

“The intention of the team was going to attempt to roll back players’ saved games to the mimic time of the game change, ” Jagex said in a very blog post. “Finally we’d choose to reiterate that we’ve certainly not done anything like this previous to. It’s possible some difficulties may still persist, although we assure you this we’ll continue monitoring your situation to ensure that normal service is definitely resumed. ”

A small number of players’ accounts will require a regular fix to allow them to log in all over again. Jagex asked for patience when they work through these one at a time. Members should read the entire write-up for a breakdown of what exactly happened, and to see if they are really still impacted by the blunder.

Original story: You know how it can be. You’ve been playing precisely the same massively multiplayer online game instructions perhaps one like Old-school RuneScape, a reimplementation with the original 2007 massively *multiplayer online game - for over seven years. Tonight, you’re out drifting the world with your friends, facing some good, old-fashioned player-versus-player steps.

It’s not about the loot, you tell yourself. It is very about the competition. The intelligence.

    Then something utterly weird happens.

It happened to Twitch streamer Purpp live on weather today as he downloaded Old School RuneScape. The resulting, near-instantaneous freak-out has been watched through 120, 000 times all of which will no doubt end up a proper meme before the day is out.

Add thing, though: It’s been recently happening to everyone. A new bug in the game’s computer has been causing PvP loot drops to convert items in money. The amount of money created is a maximum amount possible for the action to mathematically generate within a place, at one time.

Ironically, Old-school RuneScape is largely free to have fun with. Developer Jagex earns sales by selling access to high-level content for real money. However like Eve Online, members can also use in-game currency exchange to purchase that same information.

Guess what people did once the bug?

A recent post with Twitter from the developers states that that servers have been powered down “for a while whilst most of us investigate a potential issue. ” No word yet with when servers will be rear online.
